In the 503 42/43 gallery of 334 is a picture which probably belongs to Das Reich. The camo on the barrel does not match 334. File name is http://www.tiif.de/bilder/503OJ43334%2021.jpg

I don't know what the turret number should be but there are already pics of the tank in the Das Reich gallery which appear to match the camo on the barrel and driver's plate (file names http://www.tiif.de/bilder/SS2NI%2019.jpg and http://www.tiif.de/bilder/SS2NI%2048.jpg).

Another candidate is below. The Kursk marking is in the low position, does this help determine which sub-unit it belongs to?

The negative of this Bundesarchive pic shows it to be S34
This pic is in the gallery as S11,
Comparison with other pics of S11 in the gallery indicates there is not a match.

The kill rings are more typical of SS-PR 3 Totenkopf, but ascribed to SS-PR 2 in the book.
The final two pics carry the flag on the turret bin, as found in other pics of the unit at Kursk.
The Kursk sign is just visible in the following Tiger in the first pic
The 'monkey' emblem can be seen on the turret
Question: is there any significance to the position on the driver's plate the Kursk sign is located?
We find it left and right side and -on the right side- high and low
This Tiger is currently in the gallery as Unknown (pic SS2NI%2020)
There are several matches with this pic of #S11
Matches shown here are:
1. Dark smudge in front of the 'monkey' emblem
2. Dark camo patch above the Kursk marking and spot alongside
3. Dark spot on edge of mud flap
4. Well defined camo edge on mantlet
Sorry, that is the best pic I've got. Have been checking my sources and have not found it yet so it's probably from the net, possibly a book review.
As an aside, it may well be a match for this other unknown gallery pic. The Kursk insignia is in the same position, there is a corresponding dark mark just to its right and the track stowage is kinked in the same place.
It probably does not help much but whilst on holiday last week I remembered where I found this pic.
It was on a forum where someone was using it as their 'ikon' (personal picture in the box with their name and logon details). I cannot remember which forum but it was not one I visit regularly, possibly Turkish or Far Eastern.
The original was only tiny and I was surprised how well it resized.
A few posts higher up the thread, Grant Hall identified an anomaly in the gallery where these three pics of the same scene were displayed as #S21 , #S32 and Unknown.
The lead Tiger is #S2x, so is one of S21/S22/S23/S24/S25.
S21 and S22 have no turret track link stowage so can be eliminated
S23 has a driver binocular scope and smoke pots so can be eliminated
S24 has no turret track link stowage and different style of Balkenkreuz so can be eliminated
S25 is the only remaining candidate
This scan from Trojca's new book 'Tiger Technical and Operational History Vol.1' (highly recommended) confirms the second digit and supports the third being a #5.
Before the gallery is updated, does anyone have any comments or another interpretation?
Working with small photos is like working alone. So i will wait with interpretations untill i have the book one day. But probably i wont buy a book with such small photos.
The gallery unknowns have been revamped. This has removed a number of duplications, moved some pics to other galleries, identified part turret numbers (where known) and put matches together.
The remainder stayed lumped together at the end. Many of these photos I know only from the gallery and am unable to identify matches. If anyone can contribute further matches please let me know.
It has the Notek mounting on the glacis so is presumably one of the nine received from 13./SS-Panzerregiment 1 LAH in July 1943.
The driver's plate camo looks a good match for the second Tiger which Evgeniy has identified as #424 from 4./SS-Panzerregiment 1 LAH.

Is this because this tiger was an initial production tank?
or
Was this tiger a early production model from which feifel filter and exhoust covers have been removed?
This is not the original S32 of "Das Reich" but probably again a former "LAH" Tiger.
Maybe im wrong but it seems that the former "LAH" Tigers were completed with the "Das Reich" Kursk markings on the LHS but not on the RHS like the original Reich Tigers?
I found this shot of S22 (Chinese character) on the Wiki commons BA site=I don't see it on here anywhere but I haven't had a thorough look around so apologies if you have it somewhere.

yes we have another pic with the same Tiger in the same location but from the other side photographed. It shows that this Tiger had the "Wolfsangel" painted on the left front. Thats why we put it in the 8.SS gallery.
Looks like #S16, but that is not on the establishment Schneider gives us.
The number might be applied on a dark patch covering a previous number, so perhaps it is one of the nine receipts from SS.Pz.Rgt.1 at the end of July 1943 which took the company to two over-establishment, hence the unexpected number.
