In dieser Auflösung ist es hart, Detail der Zahlen zu sehen. Ist es möglich, daß die ' 3 ' die erste Stelle ist?

Diese Art von Mantlet in s.PA50ÍST normalerweise mit 3.Kp verbunden.

In this resolution it is hard to see detail of the numbers. Is it possible that the '3' is the first digit?
This type of mantlet in s.PA503 is normally associated with 3.Kp.

wo kommt das Foto her...ist es als 503 Tiger bezeichnet dort?

Bei diesen frühen Tigern mit Feifeln und vor allem mit entfernten Nebelkerzenwerfer auch immer mal bei "Großdeutschland" schauen ob es passt.

Die "2" an allen 2./503 Tigern wurde mit sehr weit rumgezogenem Bogen oben aufgemalt. Dieser weite Bogen der "2" ist auf Deinem Tiger nicht.




Es sollte der Tiger 21 der GD sein

The gallery contains pics of #334 with what are possibly two different turrets (or mantlets). The hull camo matches in all cases.

This pic is of 334 in 'Fahrschule' mode. The gunner's scope has a rain shield above.


This well known pic of 334 has no rain shield and a distinctly different camo - whilst the hull camo appears unchanged.


This E-Bay pic matches the driver's plate camo of both previous pics and has the rain shield seen in the first picture.

Stab Tiger?

This pic is currently in the gallery as 3.Kp Unknown.






Looking at it in detail suggests it is a Stab Tiger rather than 3.Kp


The mantlet MG appears to be plugged. There is an aerial which is not in the normal hull location.

Stab Tiger #II has the later mantlet, so this is probably #I or #III. We know that #I has stowage brackets on the right hull side and this pic has a corresponding shadow.

Is the flag/pole significant? Is it a command pennant of some type? If so, does it indicate which of #I or III this may be?

Tiger 323 photo question

May I ask why you think this photo shows Tiger 323?



The other photos show a tank built in January, because it had S-mines but never had exhaust shields.

But the tank in this photo has the increased number of bolts to hold the turret; this dates it to April or later.

I can´t recall in the moment why i gave it to Tiger 323.....

May it was the Person of Werkmeister Späth whos working on the Tiger like in the series of 323 repair pics. Ok, but this Tiger have no turret like 323 on the other serie so maybe it isn´t the same Tiger?

On the photo i have it is impossible to see exhaust shields or the position of the s-mine chargers.

This Tiger is a match for #122 in the hull side camo, missing skirt and bent aerial. An unusual feature is the wire bin attached to the Rommelkiste.

This could be #124


The last digit is 4. The arrow points to what could be the tail of a 2 - if it is part of a number it can only be a 2.

The position of the 4 relative to the vision slot rules out #324. We have already established that there was no #224, so this would be #124.

The damaged rear skirt in the fuller pic confirms the match for the pic of #233 already in the gallery.

Possibilities are #’s 132, 232 and 332

This Tiger’s features include:
• Standard turret bin
• Hull S-Mines
• Stowage brackets to rear of right hand hull side
• Bent front right hand skirt
• Font of numbering

#132 matches all these features and the driver’s plate camo pattern is a possible match too.

#232 can be eliminated because of:
• Absence of hull S-mines
• PzIII turret bin
• Absence of stowage brackets on hull side

#332 can be eliminated because of:
• Stowage brackets extend further forward on hull side
• Hull cross located further rearwards
• Different font
• Undamaged front right hand skirt

Possibilities are #’s 121, 122, 123 and 124.

This tiger is quite distinctive and features:

• Camo pattern on driver’s plate
• Absence of hull S-mines
• Font of numbering

#121 the following matches can be made:
• Turret escape hatch
• Absence of hull S-mines
• Turret S-mines

#122 can be eliminated because of:
• Hull S-Mines
• Absence of wire bin attached to turret bin
• Font

#123 can be eliminated because of:
• Turret bin type
• Driver plate camo
• Summer 1943 pics show absence of escape hatch

#124 can be eliminated because of:
• Driver plate camo
• Turret S-mines absent

Taking all these considerations together, suggests that this is #121. What does anyone think?

Thanks for posting the bigger pic.

This looks like #213 rather than a 1.Kp Tiger. The last digit is certainly a 3. The middle digit is not parallel to the 3 and looks to be straight sided hence a 1 or 4. The first digit seems to have a rounded top, hence is likely a 2 or 3.

Of all the gallery pics of 503 Tigers numbered XX3, this Tiger is only consistent with #213.
This pic has the missing front skirts and damaged final skirt.


This pic has the rights side flap present and the left side missing.

This pic is in the gallery as a 2.Kp Unknown


From the portion in view this Tiger number is XY3, where Y = 2 or 3, giving 6 possibilities 123, 133, 223, 233, 232 and 333

Looking in more detail we can observe the features of this Tiger, in particular the font and location of the hull cross, the bottom of which would be covered by the skirt and the right hand edge of which is aligned to the join between the 2nd and 3rd skirts

From pictures contained in the gallery, only #133 matches the location and font of this cross, as shown in this pic from Schneider's 'Tigers in Combat I'


Additionally the missing skirt beneath the cross matches and the camo pattern is not dissimilar.

I am not familiar with this gallery pic of #312 and hope someone can post a higher definition copy to establish whether it has the hull side brackets and track bar too.

This pic found on the web, presumably from a Hungarian publication is a match for the gallery pic of #312.


I have tried online translators to interpret the caption without success. Is this #214 rather than #312?

Does anyone have a better copy of either / both pics to see if the turret number is 312 or 214?
